What is a “secure hotel”?
It is difficult to imagine a modern hotel where business processes are not automated, there is no security service, and engineering and technical means designed to monitor, restrict actions, notify about events, or, in the worst-case scenario, extinguish fires, are not utilized.
To rightfully be called SECURE, a hotel needs to achieve a balance in all directions that require a high level of responsibility for the life and health of the guest. At the same time, all these technologies should not be intrusive, but rather invisible, so that the guest does not lose the feeling of COMFORT.
Let’s look at what goals hotel management should set for themselves to achieve the appropriate level of “COMFORTABLE SECURITY”:
1. Raise the level of hotel security.
Ways to achieve:
- implementation of modern technologies for electrical network protection, warning systems, and localization and extinguishing of fires;
- transition to modern access control systems: electronic locks, room presence detection systems;
- use of individual safes and safes with the ability to retrieve an audit trail of events.
2. Streamline the access system for different user groups: guests, staff, and property tenants
Ways to achieve:
- organization of an ACS (Access Control System) that clearly differentiates access rights for guest, service, rented, and common areas;
- getting rid of systems that require different cards for different access zones (otherwise, this process creates a lot of inconvenience and slows down the work of hotel services);
- ideally, abandoning the use of mechanical keys for locking doors.
3. Increase the efficiency of hotel services; organization of a “Staff Loyalty” system.
Ways to achieve:
- implementation of time and attendance tracking systems (allows achieving an additional level of motivation, discipline, and detection of misconduct);
- implementation of room presence detection systems (allows solving the problem of unauthorized “off-the-books” room check-ins by 100%. Thanks to this system, the hotel occupancy rate increases sharply, and any dishonest employees are weeded out).
In order to offset the cost of the previous three goals, a fourth one must also be set:
4. Increase hotel profitability by reducing costs and providing additional services to guests.
Ways to achieve:
- transition to modern contactless cards as a single technological base for all systems in the hotel: access systems, cashless payments, club systems, etc.;
- integration of ACS with hotel management systems (PMS system), sales systems (POS system), club systems, staff time and attendance tracking systems, etc.;
- implementation of energy-saving systems – allows saving up to 60% of the annual energy consumption of the room stock.
All these modernization stages can be implemented using high-tech SALTO (Spain) equipment – these are specialized hotel energy-saving systems and room presence detection systems.
Five years of experience working with the SALTO brand in Ukraine has proven that at the moment it is the only brand that does not require constant maintenance after implementation. It is a brand with which you can start a renovation or construction project and be confident that you are getting the most modern and reliable equipment that will last for many years.
